In 1982 Lowrance fishfinders arrived on the local scene, introducing a new era in angling to the South Africa market. At first the range was imported in fairly small numbers but as the product gained acceptability among the fishermen and dealers, import increased.

Now boasting 68 different units, the company distributes to marine dealers in South Africa, Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe offering anglers excellent products, competitive pricing, expert knowledge and the best back-up in the industry.

All Lowrance units come with a three-year warranty.

	Managing director Lisbeth Plotz and National Sales director Silan Naicker head up this successful concern, which is conveniently situated in Durban, South Africa’s busiest port and the gateway to the rest of the continent.

Liz first came to South Africa as a Danish international waterskier, staying on to become a South African champion and record holder. She gained experience in game fishing off Mozambique and Natal and has been involved with Lowrance in the local boating industry, since its arrival in the country. She has extensive knowledge of the products and their capabilities and she expertly handles the imports and administration of the company.

Silan is responsible for sales and promotions, as well as training, testing and faultfinding. He has been involved in the wholesale of marine related equipment for many years and has extensive knowledge of the Lowrance range of products, their uses and potential. He travels nationally visiting dealers, attending major shows and skiboating/bass fishing competitions, where he has become a popular and familiar figure.

Liz and Silan attend Lowrance’s annual dealer conferences held in countries such as Mexico, USA, Spain, Holland, UK, Italy and France to mention a few, gaining invaluable product knowledge. For many years Lowrance SA has won the worldwide award for Best Advertising and Marketing, excluding USA-based companies.

	Wayne Close, our sales and customer care consultant no stranger to boats and fishing coming from a family of avid anglers.Renowned fisherman and magazine editor Dennis Mercer introduced him to ski boat angling giving him a grounding which is evident in his relationship with all his clients and his knowledge of GPS's, fishfinders and safety equipment.

	Sales Manager Brad Thompson is responsible for sales (of Lowrance and Eagle products, accessories and safety equipment), running the showroom in Durban and client and dealer liaison. His excellent technical knowledge ensure that Lowrance customers receive up-to-date expertise and service.

Lowrance South Africa’ sales and technical consultant consultant John Minnie is an avid angler - fishing at Fynnlands  and Warner Doone Skiboat Clubs. He has been in the industry for six years - starting as a technician installing motors at a dealership in Pinetown.  In moving to Honda Marine’s technical division he gained vast experience in all electronic installations from live bait pumps, switch panels, motors to sonars and GPS’s. His years of experience on the water and knowledge of the intricacies of all Lowrance equipment have proved invaluable to clients.

This dynamic team is supported by Cyril Binza, S’bu Mhlongo and Tamara Robertson, working tirelessly behind-the-scenes.
